Fields of red, white and yellow

After Ben's birthday lunch on Tuesday, we drove back via a few South Derbyshire villages and I took the opportunity to photograph this lovely field. The camera doesn't really do justice to the overall effect of the flowers, but it gives you some idea.

The poppies give a vivid splash of vibrant red against the backdrop of the green foliage, the white cow parsley and the yellow flowers; which I think may be escaped oilseed rape! Am I right anyone

  1. Yes, you are right - it is 'escaped' rape - looks like a set-aside field and they always yield a good crop of wild flowers.

  2. How pretty - it does seem very early for popppies though, still everything in the garden and hedgerows seems to be early this year:)

  9. There's nothing better for the eye and the soul than coming upon a field of wildflowers. Some years we see them at the edges of the highway - they make me smile on my commute.
