Another new day

I've been feeling a bit restless lately. Mark is safely delivered off to Uni and beginning a whole new exciting chapter of his life. In a sense, I suppose that I've been living the excitement with him. But now he has gone and it's back to the usual daily routine.

As well, summer is drawing to a close, so all of those jaunts off to northern latitudes are going to become so much more difficult with the advent of the frost and the fog and the wind and the rain; dark mornings and darker evenings.

But each new day is a new beginning and we make of life what we can...

From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.
Psalm 113 v 3

Wake up call

My weekday alarm is set for 6:20a.m. Not so long ago, I would open my eyes to pitch blackness. It is so much easier to start the day when there is a glint of sunlight peeping in through the crack between the curtains.

I am fortunate in that the back of my house faces South so, although I don't easily see the sun setting, I do ocasionally catch a glorious sunrise. So it was today!

My first ever blog post was of another sunrise, photographed back in November http://h-little-sealed-packages.blogspot.com/2010/01/dawn-of-new-day.html. Comparing the two, I find it interesting to see how the position of the sunrise has changed. In November, the sun was directly behind the silhouetted leylandii, with the majority of the light shining out to the right of it. Now, in March, the sun is clearly visible to the left. I'm sure there must be a lesson waiting to be taught from that sometime.

Dawn of a New Day

Some days, I find getting out of bed a real drag. OK, I admit it -most days, but it is especially true of the cold, dark days of winter, when even the birds don't bother with a wake up call. How strong is the urge to curl up snug, ignore the insistent alarm and drift off back to sleep? But - things to do, people to rouse...

It was on just such a day in November, that I drew back the curtains to reveal this glorious sunrise. What a welcome surprise!

A light in the darkness and a promise of things to come.
