For this round of Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday, I thought I would take a theme which might loosely be entitled 'Reasons to be Cheerful, Part _', after the 1979 hit single by Ian Dury and the Blockheads (Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3).

For everyone, the reasons will be different, but I wanted to search around for some of the things which brighten up my day; things for which I am thankful.
D is for dawn!

By now, I'm sure you've gathered that I hate dark mornings but love sunrises. On these grim mornings, the dawning of a new day is always welcome, but the dawning of a new day by means of a glorious sunrise is a special reason for cheer.
Last Friday, we had an absolute beauty which prompted me to grab my camera yet again before leaving for work.
It was noticeably stripy!
Delightful!
Beautiful pink hues in the sky...... The strips of color look really beautiful like a flat rainbow.... never seen anything like it before. Im glad you took this and I got to see it :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteI tend to be much better at sunsets than dawns - I am that kind of person. All in all, over the years I suspect that I have seen more sunsets at the end of a long day than at the beginning of a new one.
ReplyDeleteI'm cheerful looking at your beautiful sunrise shots, because I rarely see one myself, being a night owl.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of a spectacular dawning of the day. We always used to say 'red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning' but it doesn't look in the least threatening, just very serene:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea and such fabulous photos for 'D'
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sunrise, would put a smile on anyone's face.
ReplyDeleteHappy A-T.
I'm waiting for your reasons to be cheerful part E :).
ReplyDeletedear delicious sun-drenched dawn, how wonderful you are...except that you wake me up and make me get out of my comfy bed. heehee.
ReplyDeleteThese skies are awesome !
ReplyDeleteSunset through trees is truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteA dawn like that is enough to make anyone happy!

My post today: Divine Nature
Those dawn pics are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful Helen love the pictures
ReplyDeleteDawn is such a beautiful time of day. And your photos prove it!
ReplyDeleteYour Friday sunrise was my Wednesday sunset that I posted today which is my Friday.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, at lest if you have to get up you are rewarded with sights like this.
When I lived in California I would drive a certain road before getting on the ramp to the 405 freeway, the road was rather high at this part of the freeway, the lights of the homes looked like stars drifting down to earth.
Even though that was over 30 years ago I still can see it in my mind like it was yesterday.
wonderful photos.
cheers, parsnip
Your morning sky looks as though painted with watercolors...what a nice soft way to begin the day.
ReplyDeleteDelisciously Delightful Dawn for sure!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors! I am not a morning person either, and I rarely see a sunrise. No doubt, it's my loss.
ReplyDeleteWhat delightful captures of such a tender time of day!
ReplyDeleteThat bottom one really speaks to me. I wonder how it would look to have something like that made into a photo mural for an office wall?
I'd really like to try that idea some day!
Thanks for linking up these delicious pictures for us to enjoy!
A+
Wow! so gorgeous! I'm not fond of mornings either, so I rarely see sunrises! But these would make getting up early worth it!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful..I'm glad u captured it :)
ReplyDeleteThe top one is especially gorgeous. Sunrises are like feminine sunsets I always think, that bit pinker and softer.
