Stone barns

I find stone barns extremely appealing: tucked away in the corners of field, or sometimes slap-bang in the middle, in various states of repair, looking in harmony with their envionment!

These ones were all around the area of the Dove valley. Enjoy!

  1. Oh, this post struck my fancy. I love stone buildings and walls and especially barns! Absolutely, totally lovely.

I remember resting my cheek against a stone wall in Wales long ago, and oh the stories the building told me.

    Thank you for this post.

  3. There are no stone barns in this part of the world, and our stone house is a bit of an oddity, but back in Ontario stone was the building material of choice. The walls and barns you've pictured look like they've grown right up out of the landscape.

  4. We have stone walls but very few stone buildings. I fell in love with the wall. The barns are cool, but, the way those walls twist around is fabulous.
