Morning moon

For the past two nights, the sky has been clear, the temperature has dropped below freezing and the moon has been full. Yesterday morning, just before I left for work, I grabbed my camera to take these photos.

Good job I'm not a werewolf!

  1. The moon has been amazing - huge and bright. It's outdoing the street light in your photos.

  2. Absolutely beautiful! And you had to leave for work...while the moon was still up and the sky still so dark? I think you must be a werewolf ;)

  3. For some odd reason (snow) I've missed the rise and set of this moon. I've heard it's been quite a show. Thanks for sharing your vision.

  4. We've had a few clear nights too. Jupiter is visible at the moment. Try looking south at about 6pm :-) With binoculars it's possible to see 4 moons.

  5. @ Desiree - On the days when I work (fortunately, part time), I leave the house at 07.15. These were taken then.

Just checked our relative latitudes. You are only 33S, whereas we are 53N. I guess that your days are a more regular length through the year than ours. Derby sunrise today was 08.04 and sunset will be 16.31. We win out in summer though.

  8. Very nice captures of the bright moon! In our latitude the sun is already up at that hour.

  9. Beautiful ! you got it very well ! My moon pictures all look like a hole in the sky. I wished we had some clear skies too but for the moment in Belgium it's all covered up !
