October sunrise


One of the things I love most about Autumn is the sunrise. There are probably sunrises just as spectacular throughout the year, but this is when I get to see them because my alarm wakes me while it is still dark. There is nothing good about getting up for work in the dark, except the chance of a beautiful sunrise, which is exactly how I was recompensed last Friday.

Last week, I completely forgot to link my post back to Jenny Matlock's Alphabet Thursday and her Autumn hiatus. I've just realised this fact! Sorry Jenny. I'll make sure I do it this time...

    I do so agree. I get the sunrise every day now and most of the days it is beautiful.

    It's great when being 'up at the crack of dawn' is a more reasonable hour on the clock! Lovely promise of the day to come.

    They are so very pretty sky colors! I agree, autumn seems to produce the most vibrant sun rise and sun set colors.

    I find myself out walking the dog at just about sunrise every day - it is a bit of a boost, but not enough to make me happy to be out!

    I love beautiful autumn sunrises, too, H! I noticed that my shadow was very long as I walked in the park one morning -- a clear sign the sun has an autumn slant.

    You have a beautiful view of the sunrise from your home! We have trees and mountains in the way, here and besides, I am seldom up before it gets light. I am missing one of nature's glories!

    Thanks for reminding me that the clocks go back this weekend. Why we maintain this silly tradition is beyond me - I have never heard anyone say "OH goody, it will be lighter in the mornings after Sunday"

    I love these Autumn dawns - so subtly coloured. I am usually sitting up in bed drinking my early morning tea and our bedroom bay window faces east so I have a really good view (but am too lazy to ge tthe camera out.)

    I'm with you. I prefer to wake up without the alarm and it's getting harder to do in the dark. BUT, the sunrises are always worth it.

    That is definitely a spectacular sight to wake up to each morning :) If I got to see that every morning instead of the neighboring buildings, I would probably be more inclined to wake up earlier!

    I rarely see a sunrise, so when I do it's so special. These photos are lovely! You've captured the quietude of early morning, as well as the surprise of a new day.

    I'm an early morning person. I'm always amazed and awed at the gentle beauty of sunrise...sunsets seem so bold and loud, but the whisper of a sunrise makes any morning hopeful.
