Climbing out of Windermere

Just a few miles north of Fell Foot, we did run into a patch with a thin covering of snow. Here we are climbing out of Windermere on the A592, Kirkstone Pass road, heading in the general direction of Penrith (our ultimate destination).

Looking north...

... and being watched!

These two weren't interested in us at all, in spite of all the weird noises I was making to try and make them look up.

  1. Fabulous !
All the photos were wonderful. I especially liked the horse one, who I am sure was hoping for a blanket or at lest a carrot.
So funny about the sheep, they just wanted their lunch....

    Thanks for the walk !

    cheers, parsnip

  2. I suppose those two in the bottom photo had heard it all before. They certainly don't look to be suffering in the snow do they? If I come into the Lakes I usually come via the Kirkstone Pass and down into Windermere. That way I can pass (and go into) Holehird - the RHS Northern garden - well worth a visit if you are in the area.

  5. I stayed at Lake Windermere with my sister and parents in 1972, the year I finished school. It was mid December then and freezing cold, but more frosty than snowy. So beautiful, though.
