The rock art wasn't the only treat which the Langdale Boulders held in store.
By the time we arrived, it was around 1.30pm and we only had about 3 hours of daylight remaining. Even before sunset, the quality of the light shining across the valley onto the fellside was amazing. From a distance, it made a whole band of fellside glow golden brown.
Close up, the light picks out the patches of golds and browns, greens and russets created by the heather, bracken, fields, trees and craggy outcrops.
Very autumnal.
Considering the actual temperature of the day (you can see some ground frost in the top photo), it looks surprisingly warm.
Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThere are some lovely colours around at the moment. Each day the weather forecast says it is going to be cold and frosty and each day I go out and it is unseasonably pleasant.
ReplyDeleteI now know proper Fall Colors are not the exclusive property of Eastern North America after all!
