A tale of two seasons

Continuing up towards Kirkstone Pass, we pulled into a small lay-by which we have stopped in once before, giving me the opportunity to compare the view in two seasons.

and again...

It looks quite different!

  2. Beautiful in both seasons. You live in a lovely part of the world. I am looking forward to a trip in September (belated birthday present for a significant birthday) and some of your posts will be my guides.

  4. I once drove through the Kirkstone Pass in the pouring rain. Walkers, soaked to the skin, trudged along the sides of the narrow road or - in some cases - huddled in the shelter of the walls. For once I was glad to be in a car rather than walking in those hills.

  5. I remember being told that my Dad (before my time) rode a motorbike and sidecar combination up Kirkstone pass; did the last bit stood up to keep the nose of the bike down - and got a cheer from the customers outside the hostelry as he crested the brow.

  7. I love the contrast! The starkness of Winter has its own beauty, but I like the warmer weather months best.
