We've had a round trip to Ambleside in Cumbria today; around 350 miles to deliver Mark back to University. Tomorrow, he's off to the Cairngorms in Scotland for a short course in Winter Skills; white-over navigation, snow hole survival, ice climbing and the like. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
When he left to come home, there was quite a lot of snow on the Lakeland fells, sufficient for some Winter walking and to have had a morning sledging, but the mild Christmas has reduced the layer to a dusting.
Just enough to leave his view with a Wintery touch.
Beautiful view!
ReplyDeleteWhen my son was a Scout there was a winter camping segment, culminating in a weekend alone in the winter - making camp by creating a shelter of snow and boughs.
Never my cup of tea!
Lovely !
ReplyDeleteGoodness, winter skills burr is right !
cheers, parsnip
It looks lovley, but I'm glad for the milder weather we have been enjoying, better for boating!

Put him on the Greyhound Bus next time. Like the photo of the snowy mountain. Don't like the roof though. Happy NY!
ReplyDeleteHi Michael... If I'd put him on anything, it would have been the train. Difficult to carry 3 bags of groceries back on the train though.
ReplyDeleteI did think of cropping the roof (and have done so on a copy) but this is his view and I decided to keep it realistic.
Happy New Year
Looks beautiful, H! I hope he has a good semester. Someday, I hope to visit all of the UK...it's on my bucket list. By the way, what is sledging?

Hi Tina! Sledging is trying to obtain an advantage over your opponents in cricket by insulting them.
